GROWING INWARDS

We all live within an existential situation that, by
its very nature, is limited in possibilities and imposes barriers of all kinds,
of place, profession, intelligence, health, economy, time. There is always a
gap between desire and its realization. Sometimes we feel powerless against
facts that we can not change, such as the presence of a schizophrenic with its
ups and downs or that of a terminally ill patient. We have to resign ourselves
to this inescapable limitation. That is not why we have to live sad or impeded
from growing up. You have to be creatively resigned. Instead of growing out we
can grow inward, as we create a center where all things unify and discover how
we can learn from everything.
Well said the oriental wisdom: "if someone deeply
feels the other, he will perceive it even if it is thousands of kilometers
away." If you modify yourself in your center, a source of light will be
born in you that will radiate to others. The other task of self-realization is
the ability to detach from material things, or the anguish that limits us, it
is part of the maturity of a human being, it is the freedom to be, it is the
ability to detach oneself and to say goodbye.
If we look
closely, detachment belongs to the logic of life: we say goodbye to the mother's
womb, then, from childhood, youth, school, father's house, relatives and loved
one. In adulthood we say goodbye to jobs, professions, the vigor of the body
and the lucidity of the mind, which irreparably wear away until we say goodbye
to our lives. In these goodbyes we are leaving behind a bit of ourselves. What
is the meaning of this slow saying goodbye to the world?
BE YOURSELF
There was once a doll of salt. After making a
pilgrimage through arid lands, he came to discover the sea that he had never
seen before and that is why he could not understand it. The doll of salt asked
him: "Who are you?" And the sea answered him: "I am the
sea". The doll of salt returned to ask: "But what is the sea?"
And the sea answered: "It's me." "I do not understand,"
said the doll of salt, "but I would like very much to understand you. What
can I do?"
The sea simply said: "Touch me." Then
the doll of salt, timidly, touched the sea with the tips of his toes and
noticed that it was beginning to be understandable, but then he realized that
the tips of his feet had disappeared. "Oops, sea, look what you did to
me!" And the sea answered him: "You gave me something of you and I
gave you understanding, you have to give everything to understand
everything".
And the doll of salt began to slowly enter the sea,
slowly and solemnly, like someone who is going to do the most important thing
in his life. As I went in, I was also diluting and understanding the sea more
and more. The doll of salt kept asking: "What is the sea?" Until a
wave covered him completely. At the last moment, before dissolving into the
sea, he could still say: "It's me." He detached himself from
everything and won everything: the real me.
